Trust Information

We offer a variety of pre-payment programs so everyone can choose an affordable trust plan made especially for their individual needs. We are able to explain the trust programs along with details about Veterans and Social Security Benefits at our office or at your home. Pre-arrangement conferences are done at no cost to those who would like information on pre-arrangements or to simply place information on file. 

Through our funeral home, we participate with Choices, the New Jersey Prepaid Trust Fund. This is administered by the New Jersey State Funeral Directors Association** and is insured by the Federal Deposits Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

Revocable Trust – CHOICES

This is an individual established trust that is 100% trusted and refundable upon demand with interest and without any penalties. At any time, you may request this money to be withdrawn. At the end of each calendar year, you will receive a 1099 statement on which you must pay taxes on earned interest as it is considered income. 

Irrevocable Trust – CHOICES

This is an individual trust that is 100% trusted and is most commonly purchased by someone who will need long term convalescent care for which their assets could be depleted and are applicants or recipients of public assistance programs such as Medicaid or Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Once purchased, it can only be used for funeral and burial goods and services of the purchaser’s choosing. Any unused portion, after the funeral takes place and the funeral expenses are paid, shall be returned to the State of New Jersey, as required by law. 

Sure Trust

Existing private whole life insurance policies are used to pre-fund funeral arrangements. This is most commonly used when one would otherwise have to surrender life policies during the spend-down process for SSI, Medicaid, or general assistance. Some very specific types of insurance (term life and annuities) cannot be accepted. Policies under 2 years old may not be accepted into this program. Premiums must be paid in full or if a policy is not fully-paid, please discuss your options with one of our funeral directors. 

Sure Trust becomes the trustee of your policy(ies) and is obligated to arrange for direct payment for funeral services at time of need. 

Portability

An individual trust may be moved to another funeral home in-state or out-of-state with the proper authorization.
