Obituary

Hugh L. Hondorp, 68, of East Windsor, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at home in East Windsor.

Born in Grand Rapid, Michigan, he was a lifelong area resident. He worked for Wegmans for 18 years, and had a PhD in Nuclear Engineering. He enjoyed spending time with his family, which was very important to him, reading the newspaper and his cup of coffee every morning. His other passions were gardening, being a wine connoisseur and craft beer enthusiast and he loved to travel. Hugh had a love for animals and was a founder and President of Animal Friends of Education & Welfare, Inc. since 1993. He was a man who always tried to help others, smiled often and genuinely cared about his fellow man. Hugh has donated blood since he was 17 yrs old, and in total he donated 14 gallons. Hugh was a wonderful husband, amazing father and grandfather, and a true friend to so many.

Predeceased by Jack and Jenny Rutigliano, his loving in-laws, and Angela Putzi; his sister-in-law, and Edward Casinover; and his brother-in-law; he is survived by his wife, Marilyn J. (Rutigliano) Hondorp; his daughters, Jerelyn Lantier-Hondorp and Stephanie Hondorp; grandchildren, Jason Lantier and Alicia Lantier; and great-granddaughter, Gianna Lopez. Brother-in-law, Michael Rutigliano and his wife, Diane; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Casinover; and numerous nieces and nephews. His loving dogs, Gibbs, Cassie, Bosley, Brewster, Kenny, and Rizzo; and his cats, Radar and Trapper.

Cremation will be private. A celebration of life will be held on August 5, 2017, at the Corner Copia, 619 Mercer Street, Hightstown, NJ 08520 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., followed by a private celebration.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Glackin/Saul Funeral Home, 136 Morrison Ave., Hightstown, NJ.
