James W. Weldon, Sr. 91, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 12, 2018, at Hamilton Continuing Care Center in Hamilton.
Born in Manhattan, NY, he moved to the Bronx where he lived with his wife and children. He was an honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran who served in WWII. In 1963, he and his family moved to New Jersey. Jim and his wife, Catherine, traveled to Europe and across the USA.
James worked at Railway Express Agency for many years. He went on to work as a Repairman with Verizon, retiring in 1991. He was a member of St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church and also served as a Eucharistic Minister.
Predeceased by his parents, Edward and Norah Weldon; his wife, Catherine Weldon and his son, Bill Weldon; he is survived by his children and their spouses, Cathy (Jim) Sabol, Jim (Felicia) Weldon, Ed (Rosa Anna) Weldon, Claire (Angel) Denis, Liz (Vinny) Porcelli, Joe Weldon, Charlie (Mariela) Weldon and Teresa (Joe) Ferlisi; his 19 grandchildren; and his 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin on Friday, March 16, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 16, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church, 4620 Nottingham Way, Hamilton, NJ 08690.
Interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in North Hanover, NJ.
Visitation for friends and family will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Saul Colonial Home.
