John Collins, 66, of Trenton, NJ, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 7, 2017, at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ.
Born in Trenton, John was a lifelong area resident. He was an honorably discharged US Marine. After serving his country, John went on to become a Trenton Police Officer, having retired in 2011 after 35 years of service. Known as "Dr. Love" by many, his catch-phrase was "sweet, suave and debonair". He was a loving companion, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be deeply missed. He was loved by all.
Predeceased by his mother, Mary Collins; his children, Richard, Michael and Deborah "Star" Collins; his grandmother, Phoebe Collins and his siblings, Arthur Collins, Phoebe Lauth and Phyllis Collins; he is survived by his lifelong companion, Sharon White; Valerie Collins; his children, Karen Tremblay, Joy Johnson, Melissa and Courtney Collins; his 13 grandchildren, Vincent, Branden, Sr., Quay, Bree, Gabby, Keith, Ethan, Dominick, Angeliz, AJ, Selena, Elaina and Angelica; his great-grandson, Branden, Jr.; his siblings, Michael Collins, Annie Lauth and Beatrice "Woodie" Joseph; his several nieces and nephews; his "daughter," Tina; his "granddaughter," Melissa; his "great-grandson," Dylan; his faithful companion, dog, Elsa and his granddogs, Ginger and Cognac.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017, from 1:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ. Family Remembrances will be shared at 4:00 p.m.
Cremation will be private.
