Obituary

John Theodore Berei, 84, of Robbinsville passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2013 at the Elms of Cranbury in Cranbury, New Jersey.

Born in Garfield, John lived in and spent most of his adult life there. In 1963, he moved to West Milford after building his own home. He resided in West Milford until 1996, when he moved to New Port Richey, Florida, with his wife, Mary. John enjoyed building model airplanes/gliders and loved dancing and listening to big band music. He was also a pilot and bowler. Prior to retirement, he spent a great deal of time hunting in North Jersey with his brothers and son.

Predeceased by his parents, Katherine ((Wisznfelder) and Martin Berei; his wife of 51 years, Mary (Mocsari) Berei; his siblings, Martin, Steve, Joe, Eddie, Kate, Marie and Helen; he is survived by a son, John Berei and his wife, Daphne, of Robbinsville, New Jersey, and a daughter, Kim Elston, and her husband, Michael Elston of Basking Ridge, New Jersey; a brother, Albert Berei and his wife, Mildred, who live in West Milford, New Jersey; his sister, Anna Horvath and her husband, Andy, who live in Lodi, New Jersey; his five grandchildren, Matthew Elston, Catherine Berei, Stephen Berei, Melanie Miller and her husband, Stephen Miller, and Christos Philippou; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, March 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, New Jersey.

Family and friends may call on Monday, March 4, 2013 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718
