Alma Marie Boka, 97, of Hamilton, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at Compassionate Care Hospice at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton, NJ.
Born in Trenton, Mrs. Boka was a lifelong area resident. She loved spending time with her family on Lake George and at the Jersey Shore. In her early years, she was very athletic. Alma was a lifeguard, swimmer and diver. A very talented knitter, she made hats for babies in hospitals and sweaters for her grandchildren, included a tag signed “Love Nani Boka” in each one. Mrs. Boka enjoyed card games, Pinochle in particular. She was a gifted singer. Her happiest times were spent with her family.
Predeceased by her parents, Charles and Alma (Minch) Kurlander; her husband of 60 years, Elmer “Pat” Boka; her son, Wesley C. Jones; her brothers, Carl and his wife, Jean Kurlander, Albert and his wife, Rita Kurlander and Robert and his wife, Geraldine Kurlander; her brothers-in-law, Joseph and his wife, Helen Boka, John and his wife, Dinah Boka, Frank and Steven Boka; her son-in-law, John Filipponi, Sr.; her grandchildren, John Filipponi, Jr., Mackenzie Boka-Timmerberg, Ricky Jones, Ella Marie Colman, Christopher Jones, Patricia Marie Jones, and Robin Anderson; she is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Robert Skillman, Arlene Filipponi, Bonnie Boka and Victor Timmerberg, and Patricia and William Jones; her sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Susan Jones and Robert and Diane Boka, her daughter-in-law, Lorraine Jones and her sister-in-law, Emma DeLorenzo; her 33 grandchildren; her 55 great-grandchildren; her 7 great-great-grandchildren; and her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will begin on Monday, February 18, 2019, at 12:00 p.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ. A church service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 4315 Nottingham Way, Hamilton, NJ 08690.
Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton, NJ.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, February 17, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Saul Colonial Home.
