Ernest Hood, 89, of Ewing passed away Friday in Hamilton Continuing Care Center.
Born in Johnstown, PA, he was a longtime Ewing Township resident. Mr. Hood was employed in the Ewing Plant of General Motors Corporation for 38 years before he retired. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Trenton, where he served as an Elder and Deacon. Mr. Hood was one of the first volunteers for the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen and was active as a committee man for the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, showing his grandchildren how to fish and vegetable gardening.
Son of the late John and Annie Hood, husband of the late Frances Hood, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Robert and Chris-Tina Hood of Browns Mills, NJ; a daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth and Robert Scheuerman of Hamilton, NJ; seven grandchildren Robert Hood and his wife, Kristen, Brian Hood and his wife, Theresa, Scott Hood, Debra Beaumont, Martin Beaumont and his wife, Donna, Robert Scheuerman and Pamela Scheuerman; and nine great-grandchildren Kristen, Brian, Logan, Colin and Ethan Hood, Joseph Dinger, Kyle, Jacqueline and Justin Beaumont.
Private graveside services will be held at Ewing Cemetery at the family’s convenience.
