George Christos Masouras, 81, of Hamilton, passed away Saturday in Care One of Hamilton.
Born in Easton, PA, Mr. Masouras was a longtime resident of Phillipsburg, NJ and has been a resident of Hamilton since the mid 1950’s. He was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School and Blair Academy, where he was a member of their wrestling teams, and attended Rider College.
He began his career with Dixie Cup and also worked for BF Goodrich. He continued his career as a Right of Way negotiator with the State of NJ, Department of Transportation.
He was a US Army Air Force Veteran of WWII. He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and past active Board Member, and was also a member and past president and secretary of the Fraternal Order of AHEPA, the Crescent Shriner Patrol Association where he served as Captain, the Masonic Lodge of Belvidere, the American Legion, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Princeton Shrine Club, the NJ Fraternal Order of Police, the NJ Department of Transportation Retirees Association, and the Hamiltonians Senior Citizens where he previously served as President, Secretary and Treasurer.
He is survived by his wife, Antonia (Toni) G. Masouras; two sisters, Dorothy (Peggy) Masouras Garvey and her husband John of Easton, PA, Catherine (Renie) Masouras of Los Angeles, CA; a brother-in-law, John N. Galitis and his wife Linda of Bethlehem, PA; many cousins in the US and Greece, and many friends, especially Joe Russo.
A Funeral will begin 10am Friday at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square. The Funeral Service will be held 11am at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1200 Klockner Road, Hamilton, NJ.
Interment will follow in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
