John S. Shuren, 85, of Lawrenceville, passed away peacefully Monday with his family by his side.
Born in East Windsor, NJ, John was a former resident of Hightstown and Whiting, NJ. He was a member of St. John Slovak Lutheran Church, and the American Czechoslovakian Club. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII.
He co-founded Shuren Furniture and Upholstery in 1963 and worked there until his retirement in 2005. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, quoits, gardening, traveling, and especially loved Maine.
Predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Suzanna Shuren, his first wife of 31 years, Betty Shuren, and a brother, Steven Shuren, Jr., he is survived by his wife of 26 years, Anne Shuren; a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Darren Stone, with whom he resided; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Linda Shuren; a sister, Ann Fields; a brother, Sam Shuren; two grandchildren, Christina Savidge and her husband Mike, and Melissa Schimpf and her husband Jason; a great-granddaughter, Emma Savidge; one great-grandson on the way; two step-sons, John Bilcik and his wife Pat, and Ron Bilcik and his wife Marlene and their families, and many nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service will be held 10am Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 79 One Mile Rd., East Windsor, NJ.
Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hightstown, NJ.
Family and friends may call 6-9pm Thursday at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ.
