Marie Matusek, 94, of Yardville, passed on Sunday, March 16, surrounded by her family at her daughter and son-in-law's home.
Born in Trenton, she spent her childhood in Holic, Czechoslovakia. At age 18, she moved to New York City. After WWII, she returned to Holic, where she married the love of her life, Milan Matusek. Relocating to Trenton in 1949, together they owned Stacy Beef Meats until retiring in 1983.
Marie was a strong, independent woman, who loved Atlantic City, knitting, baking, gardening and oil painting, but enjoyed herself the most with family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren.
Daughter of the late Ludwig and Mary Kozik Hamada; wife of the late Milan Matusek, her devoted husband of nearly 60 years; sister of the late Joseph Hamada, Bertha Hamada, Emily Hamada Fischer and brother-in-law Paul Fischer and nephew Peter Fischer.
Survived by two daughters and sons-in-laws, Viera and John H. Vana and Helena and Joseph Westdyk; her grandchildren, Jennifer Vana, Lorelei Whartenby and husband William, Stephanie Matusz and husband Brian; her great-grandchildren, Lauren and Michael Matusz; her nephews, Dr. Paul Fischer, Dr. John Hamada, Paul Matusek and wife Anna; and other nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services with entombment to follow in Princeton Memorial Park Mausoleum, Robbinsville, NJ.
