Mel Sanders, 84, of West Windsor, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, November 29, 2018, at his home.
Born and raised in Princeton, Mel was a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of Princeton High School, received his Bachelor’s degree from Rider College and his Master’s Degree at Seton Hall. Mel was an honorably discharged Navy veteran.
He went on to work for RCA for 25 years as Purchasing Manager. Mel was an avid football and baseball fan and enjoyed metal detecting. He was a longtime member of the Twin W First Aid Squad and taught CPR and EMTs in various first aid and fire departments. Mel dedicated time in his community, including serving as Deacon, and Elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Dutch Neck and he volunteered as a Little League Manager.
Predeceased by his parents, Alice (Tindall) and Robert C. Sanders, Sr.; he is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Hood) Sanders; his children, Kathryn Sanders Tracy, Richard A. Sanders (Kim), Carol Sanders-Holbeck (Fred), and Linda J. Kresky (Tom); his grandchildren, Kris, Knute, Matt, Sam and Jon; and his siblings, Bob, Don, Mary Alice, Dorothy and Barbara.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ.
Interment will follow at Dutch Neck Presbyterian Church Cemetery in West Windsor.
Visitation for friends and family will be held on Monday, December 3, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the Saul Colonial Home.
